Monday: Rescuing Dad's Tools and Creating Merchandise
The week began with a bit of a rescue mission in Nicholson, Mississippi. Someone was stealing my dad's tools, so I had to collect them and decided to take his truck back to use as my service truck. On a lighter note, I also designed a pint glass for our merch store, blending creativity with practicality.
Tuesday: A Rollercoaster with the Grand Marquis
Tuesday was a rollercoaster. I took a close look at my wife's Mercury Grand Marquis in Covington, Louisiana, and found the passenger side wheel bearing, parking brake, rotor, brake, and possibly the whole rear end destroyed. This unexpected issue caused me to reschedule two oil changes I had planned for the day.
Thursday: Video Creation
On Thursday, I made a video about my wife's SUV, detailing the problems and outlining what we'll be doing to fix it. The video was shot at our home in Covington, Louisiana, and it was a great way to share some behind-the-scenes action with our customers and followers.
Friday: Valentine's Day Inspection in Hammond
Valentine's Day took me to Hammond, Louisiana, for a final inspection on a Grand Am that's been a bit of a nightmare. I ran my borescope around to check the freeze-out plugs for damage, only to find none, confirming that the head gasket is the cause of the overheating. Afterward, I managed to complete one of the oil changes from Tuesday, on a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Mandeville, Louisiana.
Saturday: Finalizing T-Shirt Designs
Saturday was all about creativity and marketing. We finalized the design of our new T-shirt, made a post on social media, and added it to the merch store. It’s exciting to see our brand come to life in new ways.
Reflection:
While Sunday and Wednesday were spent at my other job, the rest of the week was a mix of unexpected challenges and creative achievements. From rescuing tools and dealing with car troubles to creating content and finalizing merchandise designs, it's all part of the dynamic life of a mobile mechanic.
